Since 2002, the United States branch of the Camarilla has been under the direct control and management of CCP. At ICC 2009, CCP announced they would be releasing the fan club back to the members, and we are proud to announce that the first steps to that goal have been accomplished.
The initial Board of Directors met with CCP at the Grand Masquerade in New Orleans and detailed a road-map to establish the new not for profit that the US branch of the Camarilla will become. They are:
Brian Gates – North Central Region Charlie Rose – South East Region Tracy Soldan – North West Region Wes Contreas – North West Region Jericho Johnson – East Central Region Alesia Clardy – Great Lakes Region Ric Connely – East Central Region
The Board of Directors is charged with the funds and legal status of the club, as well as the vision and direction as mandated by the membership. The Board is visionary in nature, do not have specific titles or roles, and will not be taking on operations level roles – these will continue to be managed by the NC and NST of the Camarilla.
The Board of Directors will be voted in by the general membership for terms of three years, with three positions coming up for vote in 2011. The Board will consist of seven elected members and two non-voting members appointed by the Board; represented as the financial and legal roles. We have extended offers for the finance and legal positions on the Board, but await acceptance before the pair of positions will be announced.
The club will continue to run as it does today through the end of 2010. Obviously, we will need a new charter, bylaws, and membership handbook to represent this new model. This will be a work in progress. We are looking at releasing a basic framework by the end of the year and have a new membership handbook implemented by summer 2011. Until that point, the US Camarilla will continue to operate per the membership handbook, with the new BoD acting in the role of Club Director for purposes of dealing with the legacy US Membership Handbook only.
So, what happens now...
CCP requested that we change the name of the club. To that end, we have sent in the paperwork to have our club registered as "Midnight Dance” and is referred to as “Midnight Dance, A Camarilla Fan Club" (Camarilla is a registered trademark of CCP, hf., used with permission) Once that is completed, we will have a Tax ID and be able to establish a bank account. When we do that, CCP will turn over club funds and we will have the signing authority and funds to move forward with planning events for 2011.
Our promise to you, are the following deliverables for the immediate future:
1) Alesia Clardy, as NCA will contact the NE, NC, SE, and SC regions by the end of October 2010 with bid guidelines. 2) Midnight Dance, a Camarilla Fan Club will sign contracts and back all approved regional events that meet bid guidelines in 2011. 3) We will have a storefront up by January 1, 2011 to purchase memberships and convention fees. Until that time, you may continue to purchase memberships through the White Wolf storefront. 4) We will have a high-level rough overview of the new organizational structure by the end of 2010, with a new membership handbook and bylaws implemented by summer 2011.
Our highest priority is our members. Transparency and open communication are going to be key to that. We want to ensure open dialogue, so we welcome you to ask questions and bring us your ideas. In addition to the normal communication mediums, we have also set up an email address to field questions or suggestions - questions [at] midnightdance [dot] org.
